2010 is Scouting’s 100 th Anniversary and a very special Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner is planned as part of this celebration. We hope that your Eagle Scout, family, and friends will attend this great event.

Scouts Celebrate their 100th Anniversary

Throughout 2010 Scouts across the U.S. will celebrate Scouting’s 100th anniversary. That’s 100 years of helping build the character, integrity, and leadership skills of America’s youth.

Hitting the hundred-year mark is a great achievement for any for organization, and it shows you’re doing something right. The five key principles that guided Scouting 100 years ago are the same principles that we live by today … leadership, character, community service, outdoors adventure, and achievement. Another milestone reached just last year was the awarding of our two millionth Eagle Scout, and only about 2% of Scouts nationwide achieve that distinction.

The next hundred years begins with our focus clearly on youth. Like the Scouts who came before, today’s young Scouts will grow to become our next presidents, astronauts, athletes, educators, business and community leaders. Our nation needs … and will always need … thoughtful, responsible leaders to guide our communities and help our young people. Today’s Eagle Scouts will be well prepared to meet tomorrow’s leadership challenges.

100 Years of Scouting

Eagle Recognition Dinner Scheduled for May 26, 2010 (Wednesday)

The dinner committee has announced the date for the 2010 Eagle Recognition Dinner. All Scouts from the Minsi Trails Council tha reached the rank of Eagle Scout during the 2009 calendar year will be honored at the event being held on Wednesday, May 26th at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Fogelsville, PA.

Minsi Trails Council Chapter of the National Eagle Scout Association

The Minsi Trails Council is proud to advance approximately 200 Scouts each year to achieve the highest rank in Boy Scouting - the rank of Eagle Scout. This has created a substantial population of Eagle Scouts residing in Northeast Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas.

The Local Chapter of the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) serves as an organization for Eagle Scouts to socialize and network, but more importantly, to give back to Scouting to their troops and the council. Eagle Scouts from previous years are invited to recognize and honor new Eagle Scouts by sponsoring them at the annual Eagle Recognition Dinner.

Eagle Scout Scholarships

As part of the Eagle Recognition Dinner, an Academic Scholarship Award is offered. All 2009 Eagle Scouts are invited to submit an application. A minimum of two winners are selected based on activities, experiences and accomplishments in Scouting, School and other aspects of their personal life.

Eagle Mentors

NESA invites mentors to attend the dinner to sit with an Eagle Scout and his family. Mentors consist of leaders from industry and our community. Most of our mentors are Eagle Scouts that are following through on the oath that they took to give back to Scouting, although mentors do not have to be Eagle Scouts. Mentors are matched with Eagle Scouts by career interest - providing a unique opportunity for Scouts to gain insight into the field that they are pursuing. Our mentors serve as a great example to our Scouts of the positive impact that The Scout Oath and Scout Law have on the lives of individuals and our community.

Dinner Sponsors

NESA invites financial sponsors to help pay for the event as well as to attend the dinner. We are looking for financial sponsors for the dinner to help defray the cost of the dinner.

2009 Eagle Scout Uniform and Project Photos

All 2009 Eagle Scouts are requested to send 1 digital picture of them in their BSA Class A Uniform and 1 digital picture of them at work on their Eagle Leadership Project. Please include the scout's name in the file names and forward the files to info@minsieagles.com.
